Sustain!

Metals, Love, and the Environment

Sustainability is important at Marina Kessler Jewelry. Did you know a large portion of precious metals used in jewelry are in fact recycled materials? Most metal mining is for the purposes of industrial instruments and steel production. Approximately 2.3 percent of metals mined are precious and mainly used in consumer electronics. Jewelry on the other hand, is sourced ethically and sustainably through the refined market via scrap metals and bench sweeps. In fact, some of the metal when creating a one-of-a-kind MKJ piece may find its way into another piece you get in the future! When a piece is created there is some metal removed in the crafting of the piece, but we collect this extra metal and have it melted down to be reused and repurposed later.

Marina Kessler is committed to lessening the negative impact of dirty mining practices and environmentally destructive processing sources. Further, the diamonds in your MKJ piece are GIA certified and conflict-free. Marina believes in responsibly and ethically sourcing materials from suppliers that have fair pay practices, worker’s rights, and stones that are not derived from conflict zones. MKJ also attempts to diminish the overuse of frivolous packaging where possible, we even overheard Marina calling a distributor requesting less plastic wrap when sending supplies! In a continued effort for sustainability Marina Kessler Jewelry is happy to re-set any stones from older pieces and give them a renewed home or inset any lab-grown stones for a further ensured, complete, safe practice.
